hi! my name is zahra yarali.

I’m a 22-year-old reporter, editor, and award-winning storyteller.

I’m committed to leveraging digital journalism not just as a tool for social change, but as a manifestation of political power.

By way of Tehran and a small town in western Kentucky, I graduated from Yale University in 2024 with a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Modern Middle East Studies.

Over the past year, I’ve worked as a broadcast journalist and digital correspondent, covering politics and protest in Washington, D.C., and beyond, for TRT World.

My reporting has focused on atrocities impacting minoritized communities throughout the Global South, as well as amplifying the voices of Americans protesting the Trump administration’s erosion of democracy at home.

I’ve additionally held editorial roles at the Institute for Palestine Studies and for the internationalist, leftist literary magazine SAAG Anthology.

Thank you for visiting my page—below and throughout this site, you will find clips of my work as a writer, producer, and digital strategist.
